USEFUL INFORMATION - WEDDINGS PERTH

A Notice of Intended Marriage will need to be completed at least a month before your ceremony and identification documents need to be shown to the celebrant.
If you were born in Australia, an original birth certificate, Birth Extract or current Australian passport needs to be shown. If you were born overseas, and your birth papers are not available, a current overseas passport can be shown. If you were married before, the most recent divorce certificate (or death certificate if widowed) needs to be shown.
All marriages solemnised in WA will be registered (by the celebrant) at the WA Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. I can help you to arrange for a Certificate of Registration of Marriage — there is a separate fee (currently $47) payable to the Registry for the certificate.
For a bride’s Change of Name (eg for passport, bank accounts, property, utility accounts) it is usually enough to have the Certificate of Registration of Marriage.
Code of Conduct - All civil celebrants in Australia are required to comply with a Code of Conduct that is issued by the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department.
